Studienkolleg sample exams: what they show and what they don't

The question applicants ask most often: where can I find good material to prepare?

Start with your Studienkolleg's sample exam

Always start with the sample exam (Musterprüfung, Probetest) on the website of the Studienkolleg you have chosen. It doesn't always reflect how hard the real exam is, but it gives you a direction or, if you like, a list of topics.

Why the wording of a topic matters

If the sample contains a simple system of linear equations labelled “system of linear equations”, you should be able to solve a system of linear equations. Makes sense.

But label the very same task just “system of equations”, and the lecturer writing your exam has a free hand. The “system” could now contain, say, exponential or logarithmic equations, especially if logarithms are mentioned somewhere in the sample or in a separate list of recommended topics on the website.

That is the role of the sample exam: no more, no less.

Done with the sample? What next?

What if you have worked through the sample and need to keep preparing? Our teaching experience has turned into an online trainer for the Studienkolleg entrance exam: maths tasks on the topics of the entrance tests and C-Test texts from A2 to C1.

You can start for free: after signing in with your e-mail, part of the maths topics and C-Test texts are open straight away. To try the format right here on the site: C-Test online and maths test.
